Inner I Counseling
You are more than meets the eye.
Welcome to Inner I Counseling:
Inner I Counseling is a holistic therapy practice in Montclair, NJ, offering inclusive, evidence-informed support for individuals navigating anxiety, identity, relationships, and life’s challenges.
How are you doing?
Are you getting what you need from your relationships, or are you paying out more than you’re getting back? Do you feel seen and appreciated as you interact with others, or are you exhausted from people-pleasing and code-switching? Are you taking care of yourself, or are you putting yourself last?
By using your ability to reflect on your experience, to put it in context, understand it, and take ownership of what it means for you – in other words, by using your inner eye – you open the gateway to discovering your inner I – the authentic you at the center.
You can’t pour from an empty pitcher.
Counseling can help you learn to set reasonable boundaries in relationships, to develop greater self-esteem and confidence in your daily life, and to prioritize self-care, while still caring for others. Through counseling, you can find help and support for getting through a tough time and learn to transform the patterns of behavior that are holding you back from having the life you truly want.

Your choice of counselor is a very personal one, and the relationship you build with them is an important factor in the success of the work you will do together.
If you would like to discuss whether I might be the right counselor for you, please feel free to give me a call at
I begin by creating a safe, welcoming, nonjudgmental environment for every client.
I welcome all individuals and relationships, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, spirituality, ability status, sex, gender identification / expression, or sexual orientation, and I affirm and respect both traditional and alternative lifestyles. You are the expert on your life, and I will respect your values as we work together to reach the goals you set for yourself.
My next objective is to understand your life from your point of view, and to work with you in a collaborative way so that you can achieve your goals. I can help you unpack your experiences so you can understand your thoughts and feelings – to find a place for things - instead of carrying the burden through life and letting it define you.
I am licensed to offer counseling to individuals, couples, and families seeking help with a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, and life transitions, as well as personal growth and relationship issues.
My areas of counseling expertise include sexual identity issues, such as those pertaining to the LGBTQ+ community, as well as various alternative lifestyle issues, such as polyamory/CNM/ENM, non-mainstream spirituality, BDSM, and body modification.
In addition, I have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by performing artists, particularly actors and musicians.
All individuals and relationships will be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of age, race, ability status, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identification/expression, or relationship style.
1.
LGBTQ+
You are who you are. It’s not my job (or anyone else’s) to tell you who you *should* be; my job is to help you discover your deepest, truest, most authentic self, and let that be the light that guides you into who you are becoming.
2.
Anxiety & Stress
Sometimes life throws us a really big curve – a terminal diagnosis, a job loss, a global pandemic – and we can’t regain our balance. When anxiety is chronic enough, for long enough, it can turn into stress.
3.
Depression
Sometimes we find ourselves feeling down most of the time and just can’t seem to “snap out of it.” Maybe we’re just not enjoying life as much as we used to, or we’re not interested in our usual hobbies, or we isolate instead of socializing.
4.
Sexual Communication
If you and your partner(s) have trouble talking about sex, counseling can help you develop the necessary trust and confidence to discuss sexuality and intimacy in an open, loving way, so that you can enjoy the fulfillment you deserve.
Finding A Counselor or Therapist
If you’re looking for a counselor or therapist, it’s a good idea to speak to a few people – not just email or text them. Hearing a person’s voice, and listening to how they respond to you, can tell you a lot:
1.
Warm and Inviting Manner
2.
Focused and Attentive
3.
Sound of their Voice
4.
Easy to Understand
5.
Experience with your Issues
6.
Do they "Get It"
